ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS

Alfred Hitchcock Presents was the B/W television drama series that turned Hitchcock into the icon that we know him as today.

ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS SHOW HISTORY

The show, on air from 1955, ran for 8 years, and made Hitchcock a household name for his mannerisms and dry humor.

Hitchcock presented a series of half hour stories, 266 in all, with his trademark elements of suspense, mystery, and surprise. Often the stories ended with a victory of evil elements, and only his comments after the show gave a hint of how finally the evil was defeated.

Each show began and ended with a short appearance by the old man, containing his jokes on the sponsors, and the Americans. The sponsor jokes were not telecasted in Europe.

The show later became Alfred Hitchcock Hour, and in 1985 returned under the old title.

ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS AWARDS

The show won several awards including the Golden Globe award, and was repeatedly nominated for the Emmy awards.
